You can only open a paypal account if you have a credit card, if you don't have a credit card then you can't open a paypal account. I transfer money abroad by using internet banking, it works fine for me but the charges vary on how much you are transferring.
@peaches can you give me more information about internet banking. Is it MCB or SBM one you are using?Does that also requires any card to transfer money? What is the procedure to be able to use internet banking?
@ziya : On each answer, there's a comment button. Please use that to comment on an existing answer rather than using the textbox for submitting an answer to the question. This makes sure that only the person to which you're replying get notified and makes the flow of conversation better. Thanks.
I use MCB internet banking to send money to a UK account, it does not require the card but obviously you need the details such as sort code, account number and swift code. I also use HSBC internet banking, setting up internet banking is a very slow process though it took me nearly a month! In the UK it took me a few days so expect everything here to be very slow, if you need to transfer money abroad fast then use Western Union or another provider that allows you to transfer money abroad.
@gices yesterday i was not able to use the button comment anymore because i had reached the minimun number of comments. And as I said I wanted these information urgently so i did not had any choice than using the answer button to ask something more.
@peaches thanks for the information but do western union takes too much of commission?I have to send money to china.
Looks like you are starting up your business :) Or you have ordered abroad.
Well to be honest I would only use Paypal as you get more protection if anything went wrong, for Western Union I think the commission depends on the amount you are sending.
You could still get a paypal account by using a pre-paid credit card, the limit is less than a standard credit card though and available through MCB.
@peaches I am buying something from abroad. How can I get the pre-paid credit card?Is that available at MCB?Any requirements to get that card?
@peaches its this primo credit card can that be used for paypal as well?what are the disadvantages of using his card?I went to the western union office but they refused to send the money because they said that to the person i am sending the money might not send me watever i am buying. Is it not allowed to send money if I am buying something from someone abroad. If for buying something its not allowed then i think western union should not be used for business it should be used to send money to your family only.
Yes Primo can be used for Paypal, for sending money abroad to anyone other then family then I would not advise you to use Western Union its not safe, you are not protected if something goes wrong.
I agree with Western Union, if they cannot guarantee you are going to get what you pay for then they should refuse payment, you are lucky that they told you the truth. You have to see it from their point of view, they don't want to be involved in a dispute if you are not likely to get your items.
Yes but I know that I cant argue with them if anything like that happen and I have contacted the supplier I have confirmed everything so thats why I am buying from them so now how do I send the payment.I did not ask any guarantee from them all what I want is that atleast they send the money. If western union dont agree to send money when people are buying something then I think that people doing business should not use provide payment facility by western union.
For the primo card if someone is working for himself then can he get the card? There is also young pro account, does anyone know any details about that?who can access to young pro account?
These are 2 separate questions. Please post the Western union part on the main page.
Opening a paypal account:
- Make sure you have a Credit Card with you bank which allows you to do online transactions. I'm not talking about online banking.
- Complete all the formalities which Paypal.com asks you. Be sure it's secure first. Preferably use a 'clean computer'.
- You will get a bank statement after 2-3 business days (you normally must phone the bank or go directly to them and ask them this bank statement) which contains a 4 digit number.
- Go to Paypal and enter this 4 digit number where it asks you to (only once).
That's all.
Western Union
I remember all I needed was the money, identity card and the details of the recipient.
I dont have credit card thats why I asked to open that account with bank account only, can that be done?
The bank won't allow you especially if you're a student. But there are alternatives which parents can have. For instance, a card with a fixed sum with which you can buy things online.
Nevertheless, just a bank account with no salary being deposited each month is not eligible for online transactions.
Simplest form is money transfer between 2 bank accounts. For that you must go to your bank, and they will help you. It's online banking that you're searching for I guess.
Its not online banking but is MCB internet banking what I want to know about..And the transfer of money that I was talking is about to account itself but one from Mauritius and abroad. What about bank draft by MCB by MCB did anyone tried that to transfer money?
@ziya : As Khush said, those are 2 separate questions. If you look at the comments on this answer now, you'll see the focus has been shifted from Paypal to Western Union and they are 2 completely different things.
Khush, it's your call whether you want to edit the question or leave it this time.
Ok.Then if you can't answer the questions.I am going to write each of them separately now.I am asking this question because I need to know these urgently. If I would have got to know all these somewhere else I would not have bothered to ask it here.
