I want to start a business but where can I find the right talented employees?

I'm an entrepreneur who's about to start a venture here in Mauritius in the travel and tourism industry as the first of a franchise. I am however struggling to find the right talent on the island even though previous working experience is NOT a must. I'm VERY opened to the idea of hiring fresh graduates or high schoolers.

I'm looking for core and C-level team members
-Inbound Manager
-Sales Manager
-Relations/Partnerships Manager

and a UX designer if possible

You should advertise where people will actually be looking for job opportunities:

  1. Online job sites (mauritiusjobs.mu, myjob.mu etc)
  2. Classified sites such as classifieds.orange.mu, www.lexpressclassifieds.mu etc
  3. Newspaper
  4. Facebook groups

If you're not getting the talent you're looking for, then maybe you are not offering much to job seekers. Perhaps you could:

  1. Increase the salary
  2. Provide more holiday entitlement
  3. Add more benefits such as private medical care, gym passes
  4. Have more incentives such as bonus for achieving goals

To get the right candidate for a job is a skill in itself. It takes a lot of experience to weed out the not-so-good from the great.

As this is your own business, you may also have high expectations but you should note people do not generally have the same interest in the welfare of your business as you have. For them it's just a job to pay the bills. You need to show them the reason to care about it like you do; that could be because your business will benefit the greater community or because the employee will receive some sort of reward for his efforts (eg more money, an incomparable work experience?).

Speak to friends/family and try to get recommendations from them too.

With no previous background or popularity in business(I'm just assuming here). I think clever dodo is the wrong place to actually look for employees. There are too many scams nowadays and people are aware of this and may abstain themselves from thinking to enter your company. What I can suggest you should do is to actually publicize your organization in real for example using poster, TV ads...connect with universities etc... :)
