Eg: a person who gives tuition via Skype but get paid through their website.

Assume that the person will only use a laptop and an internet connection

Please mention Trade fees Trade license information Specific laws Double taxation treaty Tax laws Payment options Common issues

I wanted to make a step by step tutorial but with my limited ubderstanding of Mauritian laws, I'd like this topic a sort of wiki where everyone can contribute. Feel free to add more useful information for everyone

Most of the information you're after has already been given here.

Double taxation only applies if you live in one country and also get an income from another country. For example, I live in the UK where I work and if I were to have a business in Mauritius where the money earned from that business is paid into a Mauritian bank account, then I would be liable to double taxation.

In this case, I need to pay the Mauritian government taxes on the profits made. Then the British government will look at how much tax I'm liable to on those same profits. Now let's say I needed to pay £3,000 in UK tax but I've already paid £1,000 tax to the Mauritian government, then I only need to pay the difference (3000-1000) £2,000 in UK taxes.

Hope that makes sense.

I was imagining it like a form of answer wiki
