Fees to register a trademark in Mauritius

You have to pay Rs200 for the database search and Rs3150 for the application fee for one mark in up to 2 classes. Any additional class will be Rs1575 more.

A "class" is the classification (category if you like) under which your goods/services fall under.

The process is as follows:

1. Preliminary search (this is to find out whether there is an existing trademark for what you are proposing)
2. Application for the trademark
3. Processing of your application by the Industrial Property Office
4. Acceptance and publication of the application in the Mauritius Government Gazette
5. A time period of 2 months to allow people/businesses to oppose your application
6. Registration of your application

Once your application has been registered, it is valid for 10 years and renewable for another decade if you want to by paying the prescribed fees.
