Can Paypal in Mauritius receive payments?

There's a misunderstanding about receiving money if you have a Mauritius Paypal a/c. So let me try to clarify that. All paypal accounts can send and receive money. The problem is that if you're based in Mauritius, you wouldn't be able to withdraw the money from your PayPal a/c.

That's why businesses cannot use paypal here because they wouldn't be able to cash the money. It will stay in your account although you're free to use the money to shop online.

If you can use all the money you're receiving great (buy from ebay, from other places on the Internet) but the fact remains that you cannot withdraw your paypal balance. You cannot get it in cash, you cannot get it transferred to your bank a/c. It's actually a problem with the banks over here, not wanting or not being able to partner with paypal.

Hence, people who want to accept payment online choose other methods (MoneyBookers, Escrow etc).
