Does anyone know if I can use my debit card on POS machine in supermarkets,etc?
Also how do I use it and what safety measures should I keep in mind?

yes, you can,as long as you remember your PIN.
Safety measure:
make sure to memorize your pin(and don't write it somewhere for example on a small paper)
