Hello,

I am planning to sell my house. I wanted to know what is the best approach for same, I mean should I place an advertisement for the sale or should I contact an agent. Also, what is the range of agent's cost.

Also, is there any danger on placing the advertisement like, intruders visiting the house with the idea to rob. I am still living in the house with my family.

Thank you all for your comments.

Estate agents will take a percentage of the sale value of the house for their fees. Same applies to local "courtiers" but some of them may do fixed deals with you. Both will help you sell your house quicker because they have better connections/marketing resources.

If you're not in a hurry, you can do this by yourself though. You'd still need to get an idea of the current market value of your property, so you might need to approach an estate agent just to find out how much you can sell your home. There are property valuators which will do that for a fee and estate agents may want you to let them sell the house on your behalf rather than letting you do it yourself.

You can also check how much houses in your area have been sold for by going to the Land Registry department in Port-Louis.

Get the property listed in the local newspapers and/or use Facebook ads. If you're not having any luck, then leave it to the professionals.

I don't think advertising your property will attract thieves as long as you're still living in the house. You may however get many calls from agents who would like to make money on your sale :)

Hello Gices

Thanks for the advice. I know there are lots of estate agents, like Davy, Immo..But can someone refer the good ones, please..I mean whose charges are reasonable enough..

Thanks.
