Hello everyone,
The BOI officer tell me I will pay tax at a flat rate of 15% annually on your salary if I got a Occupation Permit. But as a freshman in Mauritius, I didn’t catch the meaning about this. And my employer often go to China and it isn't convenient if pay by company.
I want to know Can I pay the PAYE by myself and what the material should I or my employer provided? Hope you can give me some information and procedures about those so that I can pay the tax on time.

Income tax is at a flat rate of 15% in Mauritius which means that you'll pay just 15% of your salary no matter how much money you're making.

Usually tax is deducted from your salary by your employer when you work for a company. If you're self employed (have your own business), then you need to arrange for your tax to be paid.

So what is your situation as I didn't clearly understand whether you're working for someone else or you're self-employed?

Jimmy,

Sorry for the late reply as I was really busy during this month of December. I've spoken to a friend of mine and apparently whether you work for a company or yourself, you are responsible for paying your tax. So ignore what I said above!

What you need to do is get a TAN (Tax Account Number) from MRA (Mauritius Revenue Authority). The MRA house is located on Deforges Street in Port-Louis. You then need to file your returns every 3 months to the MRA according to the current legislation.

If you need further information, let me know.
